Aren't We Women Lucky?!!!!!

In reading an article reviewed by William Morrison, MD, written by Kristeen-Cherney, it talks

about fibromyalgia being an often misunderstood form of rheumatoid disease. I had never heard it defined it that way. It is usually found beside other rheumatic disorders, such as arthritis and lupus. But as we know so well, the exact causes of fibromyalgia are still basically unknown. I know pretty much what started mine. You probably know what started yours, or at least the litany of events in your life that probably laid the groundwork. One member shared early on that cancer treatments most likely caused her to be a lucky candidate for fibromyalgia!!! BOO

To add to the confusion, fibromyalgia predominately affects women. I know that men have their own opinions on that most likely!!!

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), It is at least twice as common in women as it is in men. Not Fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And actually, several other articles report that women are 90% more apt to suffer from fibromyalgia and other related auto immune disorders!

Hormones are thought to be an explanation, immune system differences, genes, recurring injuries in the same part of the body, of course stress, neurological disorders, going through a major physical event, such as a car accident, a history of serious infections. I have previously mentioned that past sexual abuse, domestic violence and trauma are key factors in causation studies.

Men appear to experience fibromyalgia differently, and milder.

Women report 11 - 18 tender points. Men report 6.

Neurologists report that hormone fluctuations of estrogen plummet right before a period. And it is known that estrogen protects against pain.

It is interesting to read that some studies report that men more effectively reduce endorphins. These act naturally to activate pain killing receptors.

I hate to even include this statement!!! "Women may have lower thresholds for pain!!!!!!"

According to Jan Sheehan-Traiter I definitely want to give her credit!

Have you often wondered what your husband would do if he had to bear and deliver the children?!!!!! I have !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HA HA HA HA HA

From Me to U!!!

Stay safe and cool!
