Depression can often be a disease of isolation and secrecy. Nearly a fifth of U. S. adults are living with some kind of mental illness. These range from depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder. Less than one half of those struggling receive treatment.

Proper care can make an invaluable impact for those struggling.

If you are getting care for yourself talk to a loved one, talk to your doctors, talk to friends, look for resources, i.e. suicide hotlines. build a support network.

If you are worried about a loved one, reach out! The act of reaching out or asking a loved one direct questions is in itself a therapeutic act.

Connection and compassion are the best medicines.
