Dr. William C. Shiel Jr. defines fibromyalgia a s a disease characterized by chronic pain, stiffness, and tenderness of muscles, tendons and joints, with a great deal of inflammation. It does not cause body damage, but all of the medications that I now take have taken a toll on my body. But it is a trade off!! Undue fatigue plagues 90% of patients with fibromyalgia.
Lately, I have shared that I have been suffering from bursistis in the left hip and thigh. So, getting around is extra painful. After listening to my body, I have come to the conclusion that i need to rest the leg in order for it to heal! I had been using pain patches (salonpas) on and around the pain. My thinking has been that is the only way to keep blood flowing to the area, and help healing! But, when we have fibromyalgia, we cannot treat our bodies in the normal way others would treat an injury!!! So, what I have been doing is lying around, and lying around, and more lying around! I don't know about you, but the more that I do that, the more tired that I become. And I feel worthless, lazy, a bum, good for nothing! And of course, I am thinking about stopping the negative thoughts like I shared in the last post. However, sometimes there are so many that I lose track! I feel that I contribute nothing to this family!! Although, my husband and family have always been so kind and understanding. But no matter how hard that I try, there still is that "ball and chain feeling!!"
One of my best ways to handle the problem is to call my dear friend and commiserate about the latest guilt trip, and find new sarcastic ways to deal with it. Do you have a person to share with that suffers from this same wacky disease?
