The Inmates Are Running The Asylum!!!!!!

The other therapist that I shared an office with used to use that expression a lot!!! It was usually about our supervisor, and personnel problems! It helped us see somewhat that everything is relative.

I know that I should not do this, but I wonder sometimes what my doctor really thinks. Do they say to themselves, "She's nuts!" Imagine calling an electrician because your lights don't work. The electrician checks all of your wiring, can't find the problem, and says, "You're crazy. There's nothing wrong with your lights!!" You flip the switches and they still don't work, but the electrician just says it again, "I've looked. There's no problem here," and walks out the door. This can be what many patients with Chronic Fatigue/Fibromyalgia face on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes you just feel like giving up. But don't!!! There is help out there, and always better and more informed physicians, and medical personnel.

Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum further wrote in his research calls the medical profession that does not give validation to the illness, "unscientifically wrongheaded'! I need to remember that!!!!

In his book, one of his recipes for happiness is as follows:

1) Be authentic with your feelings. You don't have to understand necessarily or justify, even though we may have been "trained earlier in life" for that!

2) Make life a no-fault system! Wouldn't that be great!!! So freeing!!!! No blame. No guilt. No judgement! No Comparing! And no expectations on yourself or anyone else! Yeah, Right!!! I know that I would not have gotten that darn crick in my neck all those years ago, if I had been able to choose from the above!!!! But of course the wisdom of old age, has taught me the unhealthiness of looking backwards!!!!! Thank goodness!

3) Keep your attention on what feels good. That's ok! We are given the misconception that we should constantly keep our attention on our problems, or on other peoples' problems. If we try to take our mind off of our pain and go out, then someone might make a snide remark about, "I thought you always had to stay at home with your illness!" Wouldn't you like to just haul off and bop them?!!!!! OK, I'm sorry I am not advocating violence!!!!!

And then other peoples' problems can be all about co-dependency and enabling behaviors!!! There could not be a single family that is not touched in some way or another by alcoholism, addiction, drug and or alcohol abuse, substance abuse, the list goes on and on sadly. Our family is affected on both sides.

He concludes that, "life is a massive buffet of options." Thank goodness! I like that!

Be kind to yourself!! You deserve it!!! You are really the only person in charge of that!!!

From Me to U!!!

Hope is in the Light!!!!
