Most people with Fibromyalgia and other pain based medical problems, do not suffer solely from fibromyalgia, but an array of other comorbid illnesses.
One list includes:
/Restless Leg Syndrome
/Irritable Bowel Syndrome - This is one that is mentioned frequently in the literature.
/Interstitial Cystitis (a chronic, painful bladder condition that may feel like a constant bladder infection)
/Tension Headaches or migraine headaches
/Benign joint hypermobility syndrome (a form of hereditary joint hyperextension)
/Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - That is me!!!!!!!!!!!
/Chronic Fatigue syndrome
/Osteoarthritis
/Rheumatoid Arthritis (I remember my husband and I feeling so relieved when I got that diagnosis!!!)
/Lupus
/Heartburn
There are other conditions that are not listed here. Experts do not understand why these types of painful problems seem to go together, but there are theories.
One theory is that the system that controls pain - whether it is a neurochemical, hormone, or something else - has gone awry. As a result, the afflicted person can suffer from a variety of painful conditions.
I don't think that I started developing symptoms of ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, until I started out on my own in private practice as a counselor. I had always teased my husband because ADHD ran in his family!!! Payback can be funny!!!!! One of our sons ended up with ADHD, which made him quiet a handful growing up!!! But it also has so many wonderful attributes that have enabled him to be such a successful adult in his endeavors, never met a stranger, acceptance of others, creativity, boundless energy!
For me, one of the best ways to describe it is, "the faster I go, the behinder I get!
And that is just the start of the description!!!!
Factor in Fibro Fog, and more days than not, I don't know whether I am going or coming!!!! I lose everything. I can't remember what I did yesterday. Who did I tell what to?!!!! It's like going to a room to get something 20x, and then finally making yourself give up!!
Of course, everyone is disorganized, distractible, and so on - on some occasions - but for the person with ADHD, these are constant problems! My good friend and I always tease that if someone could follow us around, they would commit us!!!!! Really!!!!!!!!!
But it does make life interesting!
From Me to U!!!!!!
Hang in there!
"All of us are smarter than any of us."
There are so many lights in the fog!!!!
